The Birth of A Dream

 

Dawn-Michelle Lewis never imagined she'd find another stage as fulfilling as the theatre. Her acting career spans over a decade, during which she breathed life into many characters, giving them a slice of her soul and a dash of her charisma. Yet, it wasn't just the applause or the thrill of performing that fueled her; the power of storytelling kept her blood rushing through her veins.

 

An Unexpected Shift

 

The world went silent in 2020. Theaters closed, studios went dark, and the storytelling universe seemed to collapse into a black hole. That was when COVID-19 reared its ugly head. For DM—as her friends fondly call her—the seismic shift wasn't a roadblock but a detour. DM found a new stage—one without spotlights but with the power to illuminate minds. She plunged into the world of podcasting and created her first audio series inspired by current events, "Historically Accurate.”

 

The Ghost in The Machine

 

DM's signature storytelling voice in "Historically Accurate" didn't just earn her a loyal legion of listeners; it opened the doors to an entirely different realm. She transitioned smoothly into the role of a ghost producer for businesses to bring their brands to life through audio. Yet, among the many polished stories of success and entrepreneurship, she noticed something—clients often turned away guests who carried unconventional yet compelling narratives.

 

A Student of Life

 

Fueled by the injustice, DM conceived “Histories: Accounts of the Human Condition,” a podcast series focused on the stories often rejected or overlooked. Understanding the magnitude and gravitas of these unspoken accounts, DM took it upon herself to gain the educational grounding she needed. She returned to school to study Journalism, arming herself with the tools to tackle these stories with the nuanced approach they deserved. She realized that to make these accounts truly memorable, she would need more than just compelling narration—she would need an auditory experience so vivid it could be touched and felt. 

 

The Tapestry of Sound

 

It was no longer enough to merely tell stories; creating an emotional landscape through a tapestry of sound was vital. DM’s exploration into this tapestry of sound led her deeper into the world of immersive media. Leveraging cutting-edge technology and creative genius, she's pushing the boundaries of what podcasting can be. Each episode under SMC is not just heard; it’s lived, making the listener actively participate in the unfolding narrative.
